Candle Care Guide – L3 Candle Co
Last Updated September 1st 2025
To enjoy the best burn and longest life from your soy candles, follow these simple tips:
- Trim the Wick
Before each burn, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This helps prevent soot, keeps the flame steady, and extends the life of your candle.
- First Burn Matters
Allow the wax to melt all the way across the top on the first burn usually 2–4 hours depending on size). This prevents tunneling and sets the “memory” for future burns.
- Burn in Intervals
- Burn for 1–3 hours at a time for small to medium candles.
- Never burn longer than 4 hours at once to prevent overheating.
- Avoid Drafts
Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from vents, fans, or open windows to ensure even burning.
- Extinguish Safely
Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame. Avoid splattering by keeping your face and hair away from the wax. Never use water to extinguish a candle.
- Burn Responsibly
- Never leave a lit candle unattended.
- Keep away from children, pets, and flammable objects.
- Jars can get hot — allow them to cool completely before touching or moving.
- Know When to Stop
Stop burning when only 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom. Burning a nearly empty jar may cause overheating or breakage.
- Reuse & Recycle
Once finished, freeze the jar for a few hours to easily pop out leftover wax. Clean with warm, soapy water and repurpose the jar for storage or décor.
- Storage Tips
Store candles upright in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or extreme heat to preserve fragrance and wax quality.
